Same Old Brand New

Same Old Brand New

As usual months have passed since the last entry but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been a rollercoaster.  First I was going to write something inspiring (at least to me) around Christmas time and the season of ‘good will’ and joy and happiness… then I was of course going to restart blogging on the 1st of January to be symbolic of the new year but naturally I put it off and failed in one of my resolutions on day one; having said that New Year’s Day is a holiday and therefore a day of rest so I don’t feel too bad for starting over today.  Better late than never!

A year ago I would never have expected to have been still sitting quite happily in Winnipeg despite the -53°C wind-chill and to be even a little sad at the fact that 2014 may be the year that I finally leave Manitoba.  Be careful what you wish for I suppose!  I actually achieved a fair amount last year, in the end… Passed my Masters with merit, made through an entire year in my job (and an additional year in MB!), re-visited old friends and family in Europe and made some wonderful new friends here.

As far as New Year’s Days go, it wasn’t the best but perhaps that is because when something good ends… even when you know that it must, we can’t help but feel a little melancholy.
