Hello world!
This is my first official blog post on the new site, so welcome. Welcome to anyone just stopping by and especially to any readers who have followed me across from my old Blogger blog. I promise this website is going to be bigger, brighter and better!
I have imported many of the old blogposts which is why this doesn’t appear as the first post. I’d like to say it’s for the benefit of anyone joining who might be interested in reading my older posts about living in France or Manitoba but if I’m honest it’s probably more for my own benefit of having the satisfaction of keeping an established blog with some content already in place.
Anyway, so much has changed since I last wrote. Over the past year I have lived in two more provinces and finally come to unpack my suitcase a little more permanently in beautiful British Columbia, in a small town called Port Hardy, on the northern tip of Vancouver Island. Last September I returned to university and have since graduated (unbelievably with a first!) from a bachelor of education and am about to start a career as a teacher. In the meantime I have been working in an independent hotel over the summer where I have actually made use of my French and get to hear about people’s travels from across Canada, the United States and the world at large; I now have an even longer list of future travel destinations. People have such varied and interesting stories and many guests are also incredibly kind – anyone who brings me an ice-cream when I am on duty gets brownie points from me!
I’ll be talking about my discoveries on Vancouver Island as I explore the local towns and nature trails, as well as thoughts on fashion, culture, life experiences etc. My blog always has been and always will be (despite my organised side trying to give it a sense of order or purpose) a pot-pourri of random posts to satisfy my desire to write and hopefully at least keep my family and friends updated with my whereabouts.
