A Blast From The Past
Although this blog is mainly about my experiences of the places I live or travel to and things to see, eat, or do, every now and again I write about tidbits from my life because why not? It’s my blog. I’ll use it as I please! I wanted to write about my recent trip to the cities of Vancouver and Victoria but was hit by writer’s block…
Since my last blog entry I have been recontacted by two people that in very different ways were/are important to me and with whom for two very different (but not entirely unconnected) reasons I had lost contact. I am happy to say that one great friend is back on Facebook and we’ve been catching up a fair bit.
The other person called me up after 6 months of silence (on both parts) to apologize for everything and reestablish some sort of friendship. A phone call I didn’t think would ever come but which I am glad did. I’m not sure how this is going to progress or even if we will actually be friends but it is his birthday today which marks two years since the second time we spent any time together and the first time I was invited into his life and friendship circle.
I find myself reminsicing on the Winter of 2013/14 and how for better or worse so many things changed for all of us because of one snowy October night which so easily could have unfolded differently. Considering I have moved so much in my life and lost contact with many people I was once close to there are very few that I feel this ancient Chinese proverb applies to:
An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break.
It applies to both of them…
